Sports - To lose and have dignity

I am pissed off!!!
I am pissed off with the media in Brasil. I am also pissed off with the audience of the Pan American Games. I am Brazilian, very proud of my country but sometimes I feel embarassed or ashamed of the Brazilian people.
On Women's volleyball, Brazil just lost to Cuba on what was supposed to be the most waited final match of the whole Pan American Games. It was a battle -3x2 to Cuba - but for me the worse is not exactly the result (which by itself hurts me inside) but the reaction of the crowd. When Brazil wins, it is all good. We are the best. When Brazil loses, let's find the one to blame. The women of Brazil suck. They choked. Not to say all the cussing.
The hardest for me is definitely listening those undignified comments. How can people be so intolerant.
In my opinion, most of these people have not practiced sports in their lives. They don't know what is to compete, to lose or to win, and to come out with head up high, aknowledging that the opposing team was better at that moment.
We, Brazilians, have a lot to learn. We gotta love our own, scream, boo, dance, party and earn it in the end, being it with victory or defeat.
We gotta remember the purpose of sports is to bring together, not separate. To remember everyday we are all equal.

Pan American Games 2007 - Rio de Janeiro

The Pan American Games have started last Friday. Most Americans either seem not to know that it is happening or not to care. It is going on in Rio de Janeiro, my beloved and wondeful hometown.
Even though Americans don't know (or don't care) about the Games, which should be considered the Olympic Games of the Americas, this country is currently in first place with a total of 30 gold medals, 17 more over Cuba who is, so far, occupying the second place with 13 gold medals. For everyone's surprise, Brazil is coming on third place with a total of 10 gold medals.
I am trying to get as many updates as I can in different websites. I just can't understand and definitly not accept even though we have 400 channels from Time Warner Cable not even one of them are showing the Games, instead it is the usual shit.

It doesn't get into my mind the fact that Americans are so dominating in so many sports with little or no space in the media in here. How do kids get motivated to become squash or badminton players when we see on TV is Baseball, Basketball, Golf and American Football?

Most Americans don't know that Brazilians are booing every time Americans are on play or performing, a mix of a patriotic gesture with an anti-american political view. I have to say I am not down with the attitude of the Brazilian audience in some sport events, mainly the ones that require some individual performance. The athletes need to be respected, no matter where they are from.
Most Americans don't know that a certain American journalist was very disrespectful towards the city of Rio before the Games started, and he was sent back home.
The American people are not aware of the beautiful stories of victory and loss happening at the Pan Am Games, but one cannot blame them. They were not aware of anything happening outside their territory until they were profoundly hurt in 2001.
