Pictures from Christmas 2006

Some of the pictures I took during Christmas 2006 in Colorado.

Warm Christmas

Just like last year, Randy and I traveled to Greeley to spend Christmas with his family. I was excited to wear my heavy winter clothes and see the white Christmas, just like last year... Bummer! The only white thing I saw this Christmas was the people from small town Greeley. It does not get "whiter", but that is a whole other story.
This past weekend the temperature in Greeley was between 50's and 60's, which means no snow falling down and no ice on the ground. I was soooo disappointed. I told Randy I wanted to be reimbursed. The celebration of Christmas was great; good food, warm hearts and fun with present exchanges. The kids were hysterical as always, but in my opinion it just makes it more fun. On the 25th, after having supper Randy and I went for a drive in the Rocky Mountains so that I could get a taste of snow. It is really beautiful up there (as you can see by the pictures). On the 26th we woke up at 6am and run to the "blow up sales" at Target to add even more sh%t to Randy's Christmas collection. When I asked him what was the point of having so much shit if you don't even put everything out, he explained to me that if you don't "put something out for 5 years, it feels like new when it is out..." Ooops... Really?Oh well, it did make some sense and believe it or not, I had some fun. After saying goodbye to the Propps, and have a quick visit to Jason and Ken (Randy's friends) we drove to Denver and checked into the Brown Palace. The Brown Palace is an old hotel in downtown Denver, part of the city's history and architecture. It is gorgeous and very comfy with great guest service. That night we went to see "Memoirs of a Geisha", which I am very disappointed with.
The next morning we just slept in and enjoyed the hotel room until the time to check out. We drove around the city and went to Molly Brown's house, which is located close to Capitol Hill. The house is fantastic! It was built in the end of the 19th century and according to the Tour Guide it was the most modern house in whole Colorado at that time. It had electrical power, heating system by gas and intercom among other things. The house tells a lot about who Molly, who was actually Margaret, represented. For those who never heard of her, she was a survivor of the Titanic, played at the most recent film by Kathy Bates. She was born in America, a woman "centuries" ahead of her time, with a great capacity for learning and dealing with people. She traveled the whole world, spoke 6 languages and in a time when women had no voice, she ran for office at the Senate and was successful on that. Anyway, the curators of Molly Brown's house did a great job restoring the original shape of the mansion as well as getting back 90% of the families goodies. It is a sensational tour and it makes you want to learn more about her character. That was a great ending for an awesome trip for Christmas, even though it wasn't white... who cares????
