Project Runaway!!! Season Finale!

Last night I watched the 2-hour special season finale for Project Runaway. I knew the outcome would be satisfactory because there was no way Wendy Pepper (one of the three finalists) would get the final award. In the other hand both Jay McCarrol and Kara Saun were great contenders and very talented. From the beginning of the season Kara’s designs had caught my eyes whereas Jay’s originality and personality got me going too.
Wendy, who had chosen to develop a f%#!up character which she called strategy, made her way to the top three even though all the other contestants who had been eliminated earlier seemed to be stronger and more talented than her. I truly believe that the production of the show decided to keep her to the end in order to make the show more exciting for the audience, after all “the dirty”, like Jay says, amuses and maintain the public interest.
Too bad Kara Saun had that episode with her shoes, which kind of put her cool personality on jeopardy. Still I think she was sweet, friendly, authentic and definitely talented! I do sympathize with her about not talking to Wendy, and in fact, I am pretty much the same way; I give everybody a chance to show me they deserve my friendship. I try to be friendly and helpful (not much intimacy in the beginning), however if I feel that we are not compatible for some reason, there is no way I would be “cordial” to someone I am not fond of. With respect to her collection inspired on “The Aviator”, I really enjoyed it. It was stunning, my favorite. Afterwards, the judges compared her work to Gucci as if Gucci was bad. Strange…
On Jay’s collection I see a lot of originality and character. He was not my favorite but I am glad he won. He is very funny and creative!
I think Project Runaway brought to the Reality TV a cultural and artistic touch as opposed to stupidity and vulgarity common to most of the other shows of the same genre. It was very inspiring and it made me want to study design myself. I hope it continues airing new seasons.
