Greeley, Colorado

We arrived in Denver Airport around 9pm after a pretty fast flight from San Diego. I love when every lil thing is a new sight. Starting by the airport, which is one of the most beautiful airports I have been to (together with Copenhagen). From the airport we went to Randy's parents. Randy was coming by suprise and I suggested I came o the door with a "delivery" from San Diego with a box of See's Chocolates... His father answered the door and I guess he was very puzzled with that person he never saw at his door with a weird accent. Then he saw Randy peaking from behind the neighboor's house and yelled a bunch of names that I could hardly understand. I assumed those were not nice ones. Randy's mother came out and got emotional.
From there we went to Randy's brother's girlfriend's mother's (ouch!) place in a city called Windsor. Imagine Dorothy's house... something like that...
I was very happy to be part of a very legitimate Thanksgiving Dinner. The folks there were very welcoming and I felt extremely confortable. The food was also delicious:turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn bread, peas, and pies for the dessert... At night I invited Randy's parents to go to the movies watch 'Alexander' with us. No comments. Too long, too detailed, too frustrating for Oliver Stone, but that is a whole other blog...
We were staying in Greeley, supposedly one of the biggest cities in Colorado... hehehe, I couldn't see what was big about it. Maybe because everything was spread... It really felt like the 'middle of nowhere".
The sights were beautiful, a lot of beautiful pictures; gold fields of crops contrasting with the blue skies. Just different from what I am used to seeing.
The next day we had planned on going to go see the Christmas Parade at Eses Park. So, Randy and I drove west to the Rocky Mountains with his two lil nieces. Eses Park is a lil pretty city in the mountains. We walked around for a little while, got caramel apple WITH NUTS (my favorite) and taffy, then when it was time for the Parade start, it became soooo cold, the girls could not resist and started crying. Conclusion: we just saw the first 15 minutes, but that was okay.
On the next day we hang out, met Randy's family once more and friend's for lunch before flying back to San Diego.
It was a very special weekend overall and I am looking forward to our next visit on Christmas!!!
